A PAN card is a necessary requirement for all Indian citizens and legal entities, especially those who pay income tax. Whether you apply for the PAN online or offline, you will receive two types of NSDL PAN application forms - Form 49A and Form 49AA. Indigenous Indians and organizations based in India must complete Form 49A to apply for a PAN Card. Foreign nationals and organizations included abroad are also eligible for PAN; they must complete Form 49AA of the PAN application.

Steps to download form online?
With the availability of an export service provider - TIN NSDL and UTIITSL, downloading the PAN has become easier for taxpayers. This E-PAN can be downloaded in PDF format. Taxpayers can now easily download the PAN Card online by following the steps below:
Step 1: Visit the official website https://www.myutiitsl.com/PAN_ONLINE/PANApp
Step 2: Select “Both Physical PAN Card and e-PAN” and enter the details carefully and click “Send”
Step 3: Once the application has been submitted, an e-PAN will be e-mailed to you in PDF Format where processing is done by the relevant authority
Step 4: Now the applicant can easily download the e-PAN from your valid email id
Procedure for Filling Online Form 49A
Form 49A requires you to fill in your details such as name, address, contact, etc. As well as a photo and signature. The first two pages of the form must be completed by the applicant and the other pages include instructions for completing Form 49A. Let's look at the parts of Form 49A in detail -
1- AO Code - This is the first field to be completed by the applicant. AO Code contains Area Code, AO Type, Range Code and AO Number. This information can be found online at the NSDL Website's AO Code Search for PAN.
2- Full name- Choose a topic from Mr., Mrs. or Mrs. Then write your full name in the blocks provided.
3- Word Abbreviation- Here you need to write a summary of your name that will be printed on your PAN card. It is advisable to use an existing name for all other texts you have.
4- Do you know another name? - If so, you must provide a name in this section.
6- Birthday / Consolidation / Agreement / Partnership or Fund Title / Body Structure or Organization
7- Parent Information - This applies only to individual applicants.
8- Address - You need to provide your residential and office address and in the next section tick the address (Residence or Office) you want to keep as your contact address. This is the address to which your PAN Card will be sent.
9- Phone number and email ID
10 - Applicant - Applicant may fall into any of the following categories-
The Separate Hindu Family
The body of individuals
Artificial Law People
Limited Credit Cooperation
11- Registration Number- Only Companies, LLPs, etc. Needed
13- Salary Source - Choose from the following:
Revenue from Business / Employment
Revenue from Other sources
Revenue from the assets of the House
14- Representative Assessee (RA) - If your income tax is levied by someone else, their name and address must be written on the form.
15- Documents submitted such as Proof of Identity (POI), Proof of Address (POA) and Proof of Date of Birth (DOB)
16- At the end of the form, the applicant must complete his or her name and date and place of application and sign the form.
Pan Card 49AA Form
This form is for Non-Indian Citizens, Indigenous Businesses or Non-Indian Organizations. It is also governed by Rule 114 of Income Tax Laws, 1962. Like Form 49A, this form is available online and can be downloaded for offline application. You can download the PAN application Form 49AA from the NSDL website in PDF format.
Procedure for Filling Online Form 49AA
The structure and format of Form 49AA are the same as PAN Form 49A. Apart from the basic information as required in Form 49A, the KYC details of the applicant are required in the event of Form 49AA. This will be completed by a Foreign Institutional Investor or Qualified Foreign Investor, as prescribed under regulations issued by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and includes the following -
Job Description - Private Sector Service, Public Sector / Government. service, Business Professionals, Agriculture, Retirement, Housewife, Student or Other
For Non-People -
Type of company - Private Company, Public Company, Company Body, Financial Institution, Non-Governmental Organization or Indigent Organization
Annual income in INR
Net-worth (A few assets are liable) to INR
Does it have fewer people or members of the same family with more ownership and control
Is the business involved / providing any of the following services - Foreign Exchange, Currency Exchange Services, Gaming / Gambling / Lottery Services (Casinos and Betting Syndicates) or Borrowing, Cash Holding
Whether the applicant or the authorized signatories / trustees / office bearers are politically disclosed or related to a person identified politically
Taxpayer's Identity Number in the country of residence
For Public Company -
Whether it is listed on the stock exchange or not. Once listed, a stock exchange name is required.
Points to Remember When Completing Form 49A or Form 49AA.
Read the guidelines and follow them
Fill out the form with blocking letters and maybe with blacink
Make sure you fill out the form in English only the stars (*) marked fields are all mandatory
Names should be entered without using any abbreviation or greeting or title
Be sure to select the appropriate document type to serve as proof (checklist of evidence received is available on the NSDL website)
Make sure the AO Code specified is correct
Paste the pictures in the required space provided. Provide the latest color image with a white background. Photos should not be pinned or attached to a form.
The signature / thumb of the left hand should be provided on the entire image placed on the left side of the form in such a way that part of the signature / image is on the image and on the form. No distortion should be made of the image attached to the right side of the form.
Sixth disclosure, if used, must be certified by a Magistrate or Notary Public or Published Officer under the official mark and stamp
